the moons series

The moons were born of a method I adopted while living in México...a very...ahem... technical method born of late night debauchery where a Styrofoam street taco plate is turned into a relief printmaking device.... The inspiration for the content, though comes from an enduring romance with The Moon...I mean who doesn’t gaze up in total enchantment at her constantly changing phases of silvery light?

Although astrology is becoming ‘on trend’ and more and more humans are marveling at the movements of The Moon, stars and planets as influential, some are still in disbelief that such forces affect us. These pieces are a nod to the notion that humans are just itty-bitty drops of water...susceptible, such as the turning tides, to the push and pull of plants, stars...and moon...These pieces are also a nod to the wisdom that lives in the rhythms of the moon specifically...if one pays attention and mirrors her movements, each month gives way to phases of newness, when the moon is dark and seeds should be sewn....and as the light grows, so do the seeds...culminating in fullness to shed a light on the fruits and flowers of harvest....And all the metaphors in-betweenof darkness and light...push and pull...effort and ease....gratitude and grace...These pieces were all made in the months just before and after the full lunar eclipse in Leo of July 2017.
