…Ellipses…is about transitions…inspired by the punctuation point itself…an ellipses…trailing behind into the past…or leading off into the future…three dots…the dots themselves perhaps representing a spectrum…past, present, future...effort, edge, ease…and all the transitions and in-between places…of mystery, potential and opposition…between cultures and careers…between muses and mentors…lovers and friends…between habits and patterns and writing new stories…between places to call home…between being a stranger in a foreign land…to being a stranger to myself in my homeland…between rooting into the earth and shooting out into the cosmos…
…And in these transitions…in the middle of the ellipses of life…there is that middle dot…the fulcrum…between the past and the future…between the root and the crown…the present moment…the heart space…the now…where we can choose to be present in the darkness or the light...where we can numb out the gargoyles or invite them in for tea…where we can choose a choice to change the patterns, lean into the edge, take one more deep breath…and expand…
…Ellipses… was created over four years, from 2013-2017… in residency of several different Finger Lakes farms…and in transition from a move back to the United Sates after living in Mexico…the medium is acrylic on newspaper...photography, Sharpie and cardboard…
…Truly…the body of work…Ellipses…doesn’t need to mean anything…it’s just what’s been going on with me lately…maybe other humans can relate…
