I was born in Baltimore and am a self-taught artist. An early interest in recycled materials sparked a technique of painting with acrylics on newspaper -- a method that still defines my practice…Drawn by sunshine, surf-culture and a wayfaring spirit, I lived in Hawaii, Australia…and in Southern California, where the embedded ethos of Mexican culture inspired another move to Guanajuato, Mexico. Four years of living and working in Mexico has been integral to informing my artwork…

Returning to the States in 2014, I discovered the deep connections within the farming community of central NY, where I currently lease an art studio in a converted barn…

My work explores the tension between the ordinary and the eccentric as a platform for expansion. By painting on recycled materials - newspaper and cardboard - I strive to connect the everyday with the sublime through the use of a childlike aesthetic informed by geometric shapes, quirky color combinations, and simple words.

Rooted in the Outsider Art movement, my work seeks to facilitate cross-cultural and socio-economic access by providing a lens to the subconscious through an aesthetic cultivated around the tactile familiarity of the medium and naïve visual expression. The hope is to ground-in and welcome the viewer to the work so they can be open to receiving the loftier themes related to the subconscious mind. My latest body of work: Perpetual Validation is born from the idea of maintaining and attending to mental health during the pandemic.
